If you haven’t done so already, make sure to spend some time examining the previous sections of this training.
This section of the training depends heavily on your completed action steps from the previous sections.
In this section, we’re going to bring your entire life into perspective by creating your “Attention & Energy Grid.”
To create your Attention & Energy Grid, we will be combining:
- Your guiding principles, which will define how you spend your attention & energy units on a daily, monthly and yearly basis
Assuming you’ve already spent a bit of time thinking about your life’s vision and roadmap, this section is going to be extremely simple.
This process revolves around snapping the 3 “puzzle pieces” into alignment (i.e. your life’s vision, roadmap & guiding principles).
Here’s my Attention & Energy Grid:
You can download your Attention & Energy Grid using this free template from Google Drive.
To use your template:
- Go to ‘File’
- Click ‘Make a copy’
- Click ‘OK’
- Edit all of the red text to personalize your grid according to your needs
You should fill out your template using Google Docs, print the document, and hang it on your wall or frame it.
By this point, your life’s vision and roadmap should be quite clear, and I don’t think you need much help there. We’ve covered these 2 concepts in-depth on ADHDBoss.com.
As for the guiding principles which define how you spend your attention & energy units on a daily, monthly and yearly basis, this could take you a few weeks to finalize.
You ultimately need to make sure that your guiding principles are in alignment with your life’s vision.
You can see from my own Grid that I’ve listed “Publish one new blog post on ADHD Boss per day” as one of my guiding principles for how I choose to spend my attention and energy on a daily basis.
Publishing one new blog post on ADHD Boss per day is 100% aligned with my life’s vision of helping millions of people with ADHD.
In my experience, publishing high-quality blog posts is like creating something that has the potential to “live” forever and help people forever.
Publishing one new blog post per day has been proven to generate web traffic for ADHD Boss, and generate plenty of positive feedback from my readers.
Which is how I know this particular guiding principle is in alignment with my life’s vision and roadmap.
It’s already been proven to work.
Just to be clear, I’m not always able to publish one blog post per day on ADHD Boss.
In most cases, I manage to write 2000 words per day at minimum, five days a week.
But I know that as long as I publish one new blog post, or write 2000 meaningful words per day, I’m transferring my attention and energy units to the digital ecosystem I’ve built.
This helps to grow my ecosystem in accordance with my life’s vision.
How will you commit to spending your attention and energy units over the coming years, months and days?
Time is going to pass either way.
Will you make sure your attention and energy is being spent in accordance with your life’s vision?
Will you stay disciplined, or revert back to your old ways?
The goal here is to equip you with a constant visual reminder that keeps your attention and energy aligned with your life’s vision and roadmap.
Your Attention & Energy Grid is extremely powerful in terms of helping to tame the negative aspects of ADHD, and unleashing the positives that come with ADHD
