It’s no secret that ADHD and anxiety are often interconnected. People who suffer from anxiety often show symptoms of ADHD – and vise versa. That’s why I’ve recently been attacking anxiety as one of the root sources of ADHD symptoms in adults. In fact, I recently used ashwagandha for anxiety, with the help of True Veda Organic Ashwagandha, and achieved some very exciting results that you need to hear about.
So, this is my True Veda Organic Ashwagandha review which reveals how you can use organic ashwagandha to improve your symptoms of anxiety, ADHD, depression and a whole lot more (this ingredient is life-changing).
Let’s begin with a brief overview of what ashwagandha is:
Contents
What is Ashwagandha? (Fast Facts)
Ashwagandha is an ancient herb from India that has been used safely for thousands of years. And, ashwagandha is still used to instill feelings of calmness, strength and vitality in people to this day (for good reason).
The formal name of ashwagandha is “withania somnifera”. Withania somnifera (ashwagandha) belongs to the nightshade family of plants, which also contains popular vegetables like tomatoes, eggplants and potatoes.
Interestingly, Ashwagandha’s name refers to the phrase “smell of horse” in the Sanskrit language. This essentially means that the ashwagandha root smells like a horse, but gives you the strength of a stallion…
I’ll take that trade off any day.
Side note: Ashwagandha doesn’t actually smell like a horse in its encapsulated form – so there’s no need to worry about the root’s smell or taste in the modern age. I know some people are weird about smells. But, there are no problems here.
The Benefits of Using Ashwagandha for Anxiety
Here’s a harsh reality:
Anxiety disorders affect 40 million adults in the United States alone.
That’s equal to almost 20% of the entire American population.
This makes anxiety and anxiety-related conditions the number one most common mental illness in the US.
So, the main reason why I picked up a bottle of True Veda Organic Ashwagandha (Amazon) is because the herb has been known to work extremely well for people who suffer from anxiety, ADHD, depression and various other ailments.
Studies have shown that ashwagandha can work as well as anti-anxiety drugs like lorazepam (commonly known as Ativan), and anti-depressant drugs like imipramine (commonly known as Tofranil).
It’s also worth noting that ashwagandha is sometimes even used to treat symptoms related to thyroid issues, hair growth and cancer.
(This just goes to show you how powerful ashwagandha is.)
But, when you use ashwagandha to treat your anxiety symptoms, you will most likely experience benefits such as:
- A profound feeling of mental calmness – almost as if your racing thoughts and anxiety are somehow “switched off”
- Powerful increase in self-confidence, energy and sexual attraction
- An increase in testosterone production, which has surprisingly been linked to a decrease in social anxiety
Overall, I’ve tried hundreds of supplements over the years to help me better manage my anxiety and ADHD symptoms.
And, if I had to rate how well organic ashwagandha works for improving my anxiety symptoms, I would put it near the very top of my list.
Yes, ashwagandha is one of the best natural ingredients that I’ve used to fight anxiety symptoms.
I would even place True Veda Organic Ashwagandha (Amazon) in the same tier group as CBD oil, fish oil, spirulina and a few other natural compounds that have worked extremely well at reducing my anxiety.
How Does Ashwagandha Reduce Anxiety?
It’s nice to know there’s a really great chance that True Veda Organic Ashwagandha can wipe out most of your anxiety symptoms.
But, it also helps to understand how ashwagandha works in the human body.
So, the most important thing to keep in mind is that ashwagandha acts on your brain’s GABA receptors and serotonin to provide you with tranquilizing, anxiety-reducing effects.
Secondly, you should know that ashwagandha contains two important withanolides called withaferin A and withanolide D.
Withaferin A and withanolide D are the two naturally occurring chemicals in ashwagandha that help to regulate your cortisol.
And, in case you aren’t aware, cortisol is a hormone that your body naturally produces in response to stress.
The bottom line is that ashwagandha contains two amazing withanolides which literally help you fight off stress.
Here’s why the stress-fighting power of ashwagandha is so extremely important for helping you with your anxiety:
Most people in the Western world experience far too much cortisol / stress because of everyday instances like work, finances, negative relationships and life in general (life ain’t easy). And, because stress is a natural response to anxiety – it’s safe to say that anxiety and stress are killing people, since stress is considered a killer disease.
Since ashwagandha helps to naturally regulate anxiety, stress and depression – it’s an unbelievably powerful ingredient that almost everyone in the Western world can benefit from taking.
The Adaptogenic Nature of Ashwagandha (Safety Information)
One of the most beautiful benefits of ashwagandha is that the herb is adaptogenic.
According to Wikipedia, here’s the basic idea of what an adaptogen is:
New class of metabolic regulators (of a natural origin) which increase the ability of an organism to adapt to environmental factors and to avoid damage from such factors.
In other words, ashwagandha adapts to your body’s specific needs. But, it won’t provide you with results beyond what your body needs (i.e. it avoids causing harm to your system).
Isn’t that amazing?
Ashwagandha automatically adjusts to your body’s exact needs. This helps bring your body back into balance by normalizing your system’s functions (mental, hormonal, physical).
It’s for this reason that Ashwagandha is commonly used in Ayurveda, which typically requires that all aspects of your life must be improved in order to achieve a fulfilling, healthy lifestyle.
At the end of the day, ashwagandha safely helps you find amazing balance in your life.
The Benefits of Using KSM-66 Ashwagandha
True Veda Organic Ashwagandha is comprised of organic KSM-66, which is a patented Full-Spectrum Standardized Extract that consists only of withania somnifera root.
It’s really important that you use a branded KSM-66 extract like that found in True Veda’s Ashwagandha. This is because KSM-66 has undergone various clinical studies proving its effectiveness at reducing anxiety and stress.
Other forms of ashwagandha haven’t been studied as thoroughly as KSM-66. So, if you don’t use a KSM-66 variant of ashwaganda, there’s no sure way to tell what kind of ashwagandha you’re ingesting.
Plus, True Veda Ashwagandha is:
- Certified Organic by multiple organizations (including the USDA)
- Completely free of chemicals or preservatives
- Tested for purity at three separate stages of the production process
True Veda’s KSM-66 Ashwagandha is unbelievably safe, effective and clinically-proven.
This is a major reason why I trust True Veda’s KSM-66 Ashwagandha over the various other forms of ashwagandha on the market today.

Is it ok to take Ashwaganda if you are taking Ritilin?
ADHD BOSS
Hey Patty. Thank you for your comment! Because this is a medical question, you’ll have to ask your doctor about this. Hope you understand (I can’t give medical advice).
Lisa
How many capsules did you take daily? Right now I’m using ashwagandha by Organic India and the bottle says to take 4 capsules daily (total of 1600mg) twhich is way more than the 300mg in 1 capsule by true veda, but Organic India’s brand does not specify the KSM-66. I’ve been taking it 2 weeks now and have not really noticed a difference. So I’m looking at other brands that I might not have to take 4 capsules daily but still have effectiveness.
ADHD BOSS
Hey Lisa. I used just one capsule of True Veda Ashwagandha (300 milligrams). I’m only familiar with the KSM-66 variety of ashwagandha, so yes, I would recommend trying True Veda or another KSM-66 variety of ashwagandha. KSM-66 ashwagandha has always worked for me, and I’ve tried multiple varieties.

how can i get in India
Stefan Taylor
Ashwagandha is actually from India, so you should easily be able to source some ashwagandha in your home country 🙂
Jerry
Is it ok take it with caffeine or with korean ginseng?
Stefan Taylor
Try a little bit of coffee with your Korean ginseng and see how your body responds Jerry. Everyone responds differently to caffeine, especially when ADHD is in the picture.
Kathy
How long did it take for you to start feeling the effects of the Ashwagandha? I don’t have severe anxiety, but was wondering if the 300mg would be enough to help since most other brands have a dosage amount of at least 1000mg.
Stefan Taylor
I noticed the effects almost immediately!
